Annika Sorenstam says a five-week layoff before she attempted to win her sixth consecutive tournament wasn’t the reason she faltered at the Michelob Ultra Open. Her schedule throttles up, though, as she begins chasing the next two legs of the LPGA Grand Slam - an achievement she covets most in her career.
She will play the Chick-fil-A tournament this week in Stockbridge, Ga., skip a week, then compete in the LPGA Corning (N.Y.) Classic. After another week off, she goes for the McDonald’s LPGA Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open in a span of three weeks in June. “I’m going to play, and I’m looking forward to it. I’ll just have to start over and maybe I can do another streak,” Sorenstam said.
