Peter Lonard held off a challenge from the Britain’s Darren Clarke to keep his lead in the final rounds of the Heritage Classic in Hilton Head, South Carolina to win his first PGA Tour title on Sunday. The Australian was a shot ahead after the penultimate round and was looking good for the win. Britain’s Darren Clarke had to settle for the second place as he had a disappointing day at the MCI Heritage. He ended the tournament with a five-over 76 allowing Lonard to win by two shots. Lonard himself had a hard final round as he finished with a four-over 75 but held on to keep a lead to win the tournament.

Clarke was joined by Five-time winner at the MCI, Davis Love III who played an excellent round of golf to come up with scores of 71 for the day. They were joined by fellow Americans Jim Furyk and Billy Andrade who scored even more impressive 3-under 69 and 4-under 68 in the final round.

With this win, Lonard collected the winner’s check of UK £ 500,000 in prize money.
