That’s hard to believe, especially as sharp as Clarke has been in the MCI Classic. On Friday, he shot his second straight 6-under 65 to take a six-stroke lead.
Signatures the 18th hole at Harbour Town Golf Links, with its famous lighthouse beyond the green, is listed at 452 yards. But with winds up to 25-30 mph blowing directly in the players’ faces on Friday, MCI Heritage officials moved the tees up nearly 30 yards. The hole still played much longer than listed, and much harder than expected.

Kite signed for a par 4 on the eighth hole instead of his bogey 5 during a round of 76 at Harbour Town Golf Links, according to PGA Tour spokesman Phil Stambaugh. Kite’s 36-hole total of 6-over 148 was one shot off the cut. Kite had not been disqualified in his previous 705 events since he first played a PGA Tour event in 1971.
