New Delhi, May 4: The Delhi Golf Club will play host to its 19th Junior Training Programme from May 7 to June 28 June. The programme, which has thrown up stars like Ashok Kumar and Shiv Kapur in the past, will be divided into four segments, conducted by six of India’s best golf coaches.
Coming in the wake of Arjun Atwal’s stupendous success on the US PGA Tour, the programme has already received a terrific response from budding golfers from not only the National Capital Region but from other regions of the country as well.
In addition, there will be around 20 trainees, essentially children of caddies and the DGC staff sponsored by individual members of the Delhi Golf Club.
The first of the four camps will be conducted by Jasjit Singh from May 7 to 19. Karan Bindra, assisted by Anitya Chand, will conduct the second camp from May 20 to June 1. Karan at present coaches over 90 per cent of India’s corporate golfers.
Romit Bose will conduct the third camp from June 2 to 14. Among his wards are Ashok Kumar, Naman Dawar, Vinod Kumar and Rahul Ganapathy. In addition, he has churned out a number of talented junior players like Aditya Singh, Amardip Singh Malik, Madhav Soi and Himmat Rai.
Two-time Indian Open winner Ali Sher will join hands with Digraj Singh, to conduct the final camp from June 15 to 28. Digraj, incidentally, started off the first-ever golf academy in Mumbai way back in 1994 and was invited to the Asia Pacific Golf Conference in 1995 to present the Academy as a test case.
