Split the 2001-04 seasons playing both the PGA TOUR and the Nationwide Tour. Made a combined eight cuts in 18 appearances. Picked up first victory on the Nationwide Tour at the 2002 Northeast Pennsylvania Classic. Collected $81,000 for his victory, his biggest payday since winning the 1992 Buick Southern Open ($126,000). In 2001, finished solo second at the Nationwide Tour Samsung Canadian PGA Championship. In 1980, became first TOUR player to earn playing privileges without going through Qualifying Tournament. PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year for 1980. Won 1981 Lille Open in France and 1982 Chunichi Crowns Invitational in Japan. Winner 1986 Chrysler Team Championship (with Scott Hoch). Was first four-time first-team All-America selection. That feat later was matched by Phil Mickelson, David Duval and Bryce Molder. Won 1979 NCAA Championship and 1978-79 North and South Amateurs. Made the cut in 12 of 25 tournaments on the Nationwide Tour this season. Finished the year No. 20 on the money list, with $198,684. After missing the cut in his first start at the Jacob’s Creek Open in his homeland, posted rounds of 70-72-72-68 to win the New Zealand PGA Championship the following week. His 6-under 282, equaling the highest winning total of the season, was good for a three-stroke win over Bradley Hughes, Brendan Jones and Bill Lunde. Collected $139,248 for his victory, the second-largest payout in Nationwide Tour history. A T4 at the Lake Erie Charity Classic was his only other top 10 of the season.
Personal
Hometown of Bathurst is famous in Australia for having the biggest car race of the year. Normally the population of the town would be 30,000, however on the weekend of the race the town swells to 150,000.

Made it back to the PGA TOUR for a second time via grabbing the 20th and last spot from the 2004 Nationwide Tour graduating class. Won the New Zealand PGA Championship in his homeland where his 6-under 282 equaled the highest winning total of the season and was good for a three-stroke win over Bradley Hughes, Brendan Jones and Bill Lunde. Collected $139,248 for his victory, the second-largest payout in Nationwide Tour history. A T4 at the Lake Erie Charity Classic was his only other top 10 of the season. During his rookie year on TOUR, shared the first-round lead at the 2003 84 Lumber Classic of Pennsylvania with Donnie Hammond after opening-round 7-under 65. Finished T58 but only played 36 holes due to reduction of field for a 36-hole-Sunday finish. Best finish was a T56 at The INTERNATIONAL. Finished 13th on the 2002 Nationwide Tour money list with $189,745. Won the season’s first event, the Jacob’s Creek Open Championship, by two strokes over Bryce Molder. The victory was his first after seven years as a professional, spent mostly on the PGA TOUR of Australasia. Added three other top-10s, including a T2 at the Fort Smith Classic. Won the 2001 Tri-Cities Open while playing 23 events to finish 43rd on the Nationwide Tour money list. Became first son of a PGA TOUR winner to win a TOUR title in 15 years when he won the inaugural Greater Vancouver Open in 1996. Won the 1989 Atlantic Classic and 1991 British Columbia Open while competing on the Canadian Tour. Led the Canadian Tour Order of Merit in 1991. Played six years on the Nationwide Tour (1993, 1998-2003), four years on the Canadian Tour, and two on the PGA Tour of Australasia. Three-time All-Big Ten golfer at University of Iowa. Was competing in 1994 Southwestern Bell Colonial when he received word that his father, two-time U.S. Open champion and World Golf Hall of Famer Julius Boros, had died. Caddied for his father for several years on TOUR.
